Will be posting closer to the meeting on Saturday, March 3rd. Wanted to give y'all a heads up that the meeting will be held @Kathleen's home (from 10am - 2pm...and we may go longer!) which is mere minutes away from SBRC. Directions will be provided via our guild e-mail. Those of you who will be learning to assemble Therese's sheep...be sure to have your pattern hooked and ready to roll as per Therese's instructions. For those of us not making a sheep...bring your hooking and some rugs for show-n-tell! Our April meeting will be held on 4/7/12 back at SBRC. Here's the crockpot cherry cobbler recipe...from Brenda Gervais' blog. Enjoy the recipe (can't be any easier and DO serve it over vanilla ice cream!) and Brenda's blog and web store...lots o' eye candy for the needle punch and rug hooking enthusiast: Meeting this Saturday, February 4th, 2012! 01/30/2012
We'll be meeting in the church parlor from 10am to 2 pm. If you haven't paid your annual dues already, now's the time! If you're new and want to visit with our guild, the first meeting is free. Dues are $10.00 for the year. And don't forget to subscribe to National ATHA for $26/per year. Coffee and hot chocolate will be provided. If you can bring some food to share, that's always welcome. We'll be talking about a new name for our guild to more accurately reflect who we are now. Bring your ideas and enter for a chance to win...some wool! This month's gift drawing will be provided by Patty M. Now...for all of you who have eagerly awaited Therese's soup recipe, here it is: Quick and Spicy Tomato Soup (Giada De Laurentiis/ Food Network) 3 T. olive oil 2 carrots, peeled and chopped 1 small onion, chopped 1 clove garlic, minced 1 (26 oz) jar marinara sauce 2 (14 oz) cans chicken broth 1 (15 oz) can cannellini beans, drained and rinsed scant ¼ t. red pepper flakes ½ cup small pasta ( I used tubettini) ½ t. salt ½ t. pepper Warm olive oil in large soup pot over med. heat. Add carrots and onions and sauté until soft. Add garlic and cook another minute. Add jar of marinara sauce, chicken broth, canellini beans, red pepper flakes, pasta and salt and pepper. Simmer 10 minutes. I let it simmer a bit longer to make sure all was warmed through. ************************************************************************************************************* See you Saturday! Almost Happy New Year! 12/31/2011
Here we are at the final day of 2011. Thanks to your enthusiasm and attendance, Goat Hill had a great year! Out first meeting of 2012 will be held on Saturday, January 7 from 10am to 2pm @South Branch Reformed Church. Dues for the year are $10.00 and this is the day we'd like to shore up membership for the year. If you're thinking about joining the Guild or would like to visit to see what we're all about and what we do, attendance at one meeting is free. And we'd love to have you. Do bring something to eat for yourself or perhaps something to share. We have some excellent cooks among our guild members who's recipes are throughly enjoyed at our meetings. A reminder that in addition to joining Goat Hill ATHA, members must also join @the national level. Here is that link: http://www.atharugs.com/ By joining at the national level, the dues support the group as a whole and help enable ATHA to provide teaching and instruction of the rug hooking. It is a non-profit and an all volunteer organization, and not only promotesrug hooking but publishes a magazine, in color(so not cheap), that continues to inspire it's readers and provides information on upcoming hooking events and venues. The magazine is included in the cost of the subscription to ATHA so it's definitely worth it! As for what to be hooking on...maybe some UFO's that need some attention or a brand new rug or bring something to get some input on from the rest of us. Bring your rugs for show-n-tell! It's inspiring to see all of the talent. Hope to see you on January 7th. We'll be meeting in the church meeting room which is located on the side entrance adjacent to the parking lot. Our December meeting will be held this coming Saturday, 12/3/2011, from 10am to 2pm @ South Branch Reformed Church. Bring the rug you're working on now and some rugs for show-and-tell! Since it's the holiday season, perhaps some goodies, too! Our gift raffle will be a fish pattern, on linen, by G. Dufresne! Bring a friend! The more the merrier! A rug hooking nod to Kathy of "rugs of mine...in time" for her snaps of a few rugs that were featured at the ATHA Biennial in Lancaster, PA! See if you can spot them here: http://woolfind.blogspot.com/2011/10/rug-show-from-atha-biennial.html Woohoo! Way to go! So much inspiration. Went for the day on Thursday. Excellent event. Thang update! 10/21/2011
I WAS able to purchase red and green miniature cast iron victorian tree stands. We should be okay (crossing my fingers). No other color choices, however. Looks like we'll be hosting a couple of guest hookers...happy to have you visit on Saturday, November 5th from 10am to 2pm! Did get out to Lancaster to see the Biennial rug display and met or caught up with a few vendors. Very worthwhile and the weather turned out to be nice and cool afterall. Forgot the camera though so no pics...sorry! Couple of thangs.... 10/13/2011
Check out this snippet bowl from The Wool Cupboard's blog: http://thewoolcupboard.blogspot.com/2011/10/fun-snippet-bowl-you-can-make.html And for those you plan on attending our meeting on Saturday, November 5th, we'll be making woolen feather trees. If you'd like to participate and want to purchase a small victorian cast iron tree stand to hold your tree, let us know. Patty will be sending out an e-mail on this. Sorry...no green available...only red or silver with the price of about $15. The price has gone up a bit since we made ours back in 2008. Rainy October day. 10/12/2011
Latest post from our Canadian friend, Jen Manuell. She recently taught her coin purse class to hookers in England & amidst her travels, was fortunate to spend time with Heather Ritchie. Just purchased Heather's book on amazon.com & it's well worth it. She's a national treasure. http://fisheyerugs.blogspot.com/ http://www.amazon.com/Hooked-Rug-Storytelling-Heather-Ritchie/sim/0764336959/2 Blog recommendation 10/06/2011
